A richly layered Victorian home was reimagined for contemporary family life. Team 1 Construction stayed true to the building’s heritage, while adding contemporary features that accord with a modern lifestyle. Our approach was to utilise colour, craftsmanship and architectural detailing to highlight each room.

The ground floor was transformed a continuous kitchen, dining and living environment. This was enhanced with large-format glazing and rooflights, which bring in natural light.

Family life is focused around twin islands. The entire scheme is finished in a restrained palette that allows the architectural geometry to remain dominant. Integrated storage supports everyday function.

Openness is balanced with practical zoning with the addition of a home office and guest cloakroom.

Externally, the extension shows a confident dialogue between old and new through heritage-style brickwork and framed glazing.

The result is a home shaped by light, proportion and clever detailing, where interior and exterior spaces read as one continuous composition.
